(1) During the initial operation period of the cable conveyor, pay close attention to checking the tightness of the scraper chain, as the spacing between the troughs may decrease due to operation. If the chain is too loose, it could lead to chain jamming, chain skipping, chain breakage, or even chain derailment. To check the tension, reverse the conveyor and count the number of slack chain links. If there are two or more completely slack links, the chain needs to be tightened again. (2) The working face must remain straight. If the working face is not straight, the tension on the two chains will become unequal, resulting in uneven chain wear or causing the bottom chain to derail, get stuck, or break. (3) The conveyor’s curvature should be moderate; avoid sharp bends. The curved section should be no less than eight trough sections. When moving the conveyor, ensure that the front and rear hydraulic jacks work in coordination to prevent sharp bends. Otherwise, this could cause misalignment of the troughs, leading to chain breakage or derailment. Be especially careful not to move the conveyor when it is stopped. (4) The conveyor must be laid out smoothly. Due to the structural characteristics of the troughs, they can only accommodate vertical variations of 3–5 feet. Therefore, if the working face floor has local irregularities, these should be leveled. Moreover, a smoothly laid-out conveyor facilitates smoother operation of the scraper chain, reduces trough wear, and lowers power consumption. (5) During blasting operations, be sure to protect the conveyor’s drive components, pipelines, unit cables, switches, and other equipment carefully. When the conveyor transports iron materials or long objects, safety measures must be established to prevent personal accidents. (6) At the joints between the transition trough and the tail section as well as between the middle troughs, avoid excessive bending. If there is any bending, use wooden boards to provide support. (7) Pay close attention to the vibration of the coupling. While the conveyor is running, monitor the vibration of the hydraulic coupling. To ensure good heat dissipation, regularly clean the protective cover plates and the hydraulic fluid.

What is a cable conveyor? It is a mechanical device used for transporting cables, comprising a main frame, a conveying mechanism consisting of a motor, a speed-reduction unit, a transmission system, and conveying wheels. At the left and right ends of the main frame, there are pivoted conveying wheels each equipped with a V-shaped groove. The motor drives large sprockets on the left and right conveying wheel shafts via a master sprocket set on the speed-reduction unit. A pressure roller frame is fixedly mounted on the main frame; above the two V-shaped conveying wheels, this pressure roller frame is fitted with two adjustable-height left and right pressure rollers. The pressure roller frame includes a metal frame, a left crank assembly and a right crank assembly, as well as left and right adjusting screws and an intermediate ratchet mechanism. By rotating the ratchet, the length of the adjusting screws can be adjusted, and through the crank assemblies, the heights of the left and right pressure rollers can be precisely regulated, thereby controlling the clamping force exerted by the pressure rollers on the cable.
